6. President's report season 2002/3:
The club has had another good season. We managed to get seven rinks for the autumn, winter, spring leagues and for the John Martin knockout competition. This shows we are still going from strength to strength.
We had our preseason starter in September where we had a good attendance. We tried a new structure for the pairs competition which went extremely well. Our points competition seemed to go well. The Duns Bonspiel was a success. Thanks to the substitutes who covered for unavailable players, including me on this occasion, to give full rinks. We didn't do as well as last year in the Border League however there is always next year.
Apart from the spring league, the league structures were very competitive. A rethink for the spring league for next year is necessary. In order to have the best chance of a change in playing partners in the different competitions next year, Colin Jeffries has devised a random mathematical system - an interesting development. The committee has decided to ask three of our experienced skips to grade all our players and the committee will then use this information when making the draw for the various competitions for next year. More to follow.
Thanks to Colin Jeffries for supplying the club card masters and the league score sheets. Thanks to Helen for her assistance throughout the year, to Paul for his work as treasurer & webmaster and to our secretary John for his assistance and hard work throughout the year. I'll finish off by thanking everyone who was involved with running competitions during the year.
Thank you to all the members for their support to me during my term as president.
