14. Coaching: The beginning of season meeting and Saturday morning ice rink sessions were to form the focus for those wishing coaching.

15. AOB:
14.1 Helen Forbes noted the fundraising event actively involving Chris Lucas and asked for support from members
14.2 George Whiteford made the case for abolishing the 5 point penalty when a rink member did not turn up. The main points from extensive discussion were: - A missing curler with no substitute was currently a rare occasion in Duns CC - good! - The existing arrangement is based on amended RCCC game rules, 5 points a straight adoption but no forfeiture of the game as in RCCC - It is unfair on the other members of the missing curler's rink to have 5 points deducted, these three curlers have done nothing wrong. - It is unfair on the members of the full rink, they have done nothing wrong and giving 2 players 3 stones each was a technical advantage. The technical advantage in practice would depend on who was playing the 'extra' stones. - It was not always easy to get substitutes, especially when there was a double header. - Skips could phone around beforehand - considered by some to be inappropriate and rejected by some skips present - Some system of exemption where the missing curler had tried his/her best - It was a deficit position and should be discouraged by a small penalty but not forfeiture of the game as under RCCC game rules Having heard the various opinions, the matter was referred to the committee with the main options being: - 0 points deducted - points deducted - some intermediate number of points deducted - appeal?

16 Date of the next AGM - 5th May 2005 The president closed the meeting with thanks to members for attending the meeting and contributing to the running of the club.
