Minute of Duns Curling Club Committee Meeting 23.5.01

Present: Billy Feeney (Chair), Helen Forbes, John Isaac, Margaret Isaac, Paul Jess, Robert Lamont, Colin Martin, John Walker (minute)

Apologies: Chris Lucas, Jim Watson

Matters arising:

Proposed Hen Poo Memorial

• Robert Lamont had contacted Mr. Hay last year and all okay.
• Colin Martin has first draft of an inscription, detailed wording of pond name to be double-checked.
• George Whiteford has contacted a casting metallurgist about the plaque.
• Robert Lamont will supply a stone.

Colin Martin to take overall charge of this project; check costing; proceed, liaising with Billy and Paul - a possible cost of up to £200 could be funded without further reference to the committee.

FMD

If there is any continuation of the problem over the summer the secretary will convene a committee meeting ( last week in August -secretary note) or if the all clear is interrupted by any new case / restriction, the secretary will convene a committee meeting (to be held within 1 week of publication of problem - secretary note).

Secretary to respond immediately to any risk situation.

Spring League Structure - 3rds & Skips

The main points raised:

• a number of thirds were lacking in enthusiasm to play 10 games at skip
• team members of a third having a hard time could have a lot of unenjoyable games

A vote was taken on

• skips play skip all spring league games
• 3rds skip the first 5 games, skips skip the second 5 games.

The President's casting vote was used to carry the second choice i.e. 3rds skip the first 5 games.

Secretary to advise change in start of season welcome letter.

Following this change to 2000/1 spring league arrangements above it was decided to cancel the 2000/1 arrangements inwhich, in the absence of the third playing skip, the second would go to skip position.
