The composition of the Duns team to enter this event was Colin Jeffries (skip) Paul Jess, Helen Forbes and Jill Roberts.
In the semi final we met Coldstream skipped by Harry Bryden (whom we had beaten in the 2006 final). We stole a single at the first end and were looking good at the 2nd end, lying 4 and guarded. Harry played a wonderful raise from an outside winger to clip it on to the pot lid and level the score. We then had a series of close end steals to build up a 4-1 lead. At the 6th end, we managed to exert a lot of pressure and stole a 2 this was followed by strong play at the 7th end where we got them in all sorts of trouble and they lost a 4 and resigned the game.
In the final, we were up against Alan Nisbet’s Kelso rink and we had a nervy start to lose a 2 at the first end. We were still looking shaky at the 2nd end but a draw from the skip gave us the shot (when we were lying 3 against) made it 2-1. The pattern then followed the semi final in that we won end after end by the odd shot and finished things off with a steal of a 2 then a four to put the game out of reach at 10-2.
